대웅제약, 국내 축사서 A형 보툴리눔 균주 분리·동정

대웅제약이 노아바이오텍과 수행한 토양 유용 미생물 발굴 프로젝트로 보툴리눔 A형 균주를 발견하고 이를 분리동정했다.

노아바이오텍 연구진은 오염이 심하거나 폐사 등으로 보툴리즘 발병 의심이 되는 국내 축사를 중심으로 시료채취를 실시했다. 한 샘플에서 보툴리눔 A형 균주를 분리하고 동정에 성공, 질병관리청과 산업통상자원부에 신고를 마쳤다.

대웅제약은 노아바이오텍이 확보한 균주의 유전자 분석을 통해 기존 미국과 유럽 균주의 서열과 독소 유전자 부위의 서열이 동일하다는 것을 확인했다. 상업용 이용이 가능한 수준으로 독소를 생성함도 확인했다.

이로써 대웅이 확보한 보툴리눔 균주는 총 7종으로 늘어났다. 회사는 관련 연구 추진과 함께 균주의 활용을 원하는 연구기관에 관계기관 승인에 따라 분양을 해주는 방안도 검토하고 있다.

회사 관계자는 “연구개발로 세계 시장에서 K-톡신의 경쟁력을 강화하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
