엘앤에프, '하이니켈 양극활물질' 인터배터리 수상

이차전지 소재 기업 엘앤에프는 '인터배터리 어워즈 2025'에서 '하이니켈 복합 양극활물질'로 소재·부품 분야 수상의 영예를 안았다고 25일 밝혔다.

한국배터리산업협회와 코엑스가 주관하는 인터배터리 어워즈는 '인터배터리' 참가 기업 중 배터리 산업의 우수 제품과 기술을 선정하는 행사다. ▲배터리 ▲소재·부품 ▲사용후 배터리 활용 ▲장비·자동화 ▲스타트업 등 5개 출품 분야에서 기술 우수성, 혁신성, 상품성, 산업 발전 기여도 등을 평가하여 수상작을 선정한다.

이번 수상작인 ‘하이니켈 복합 양극활물질’은 니켈 함량 95% 이상의 다결정과 단결정 양극활물질을 혼합한 제품이다. 심사위원단은 기술력을 높이 평가했다. 특히 다결정 양극활물질에서 발생할 수 있는 배터리 수명과 안정성 문제를 단결정 양극활물질과의 혼합을 통해 해결했다는 점에 주목했다. 이를 통해 가스 발생이 감소하고 안정성이 향상돼 배터리 수명이 크게 개선되는 등 기술적 한계를 뛰어넘었다는 평가를 받았다.

산업 발전 기여도 측면에서도 높은 점수를 받았다. 에너지 밀도 한계를 한 단계 뛰어넘는 배터리 구현을 가능케 해 고성능 배터리의 대량 양산이 가능해졌다는 평가다.

엘앤에프 전상훈 소재개발연구소장은 "이번 수상을 통해 당사의 기술력을 인정받게 돼 매우 기쁘다"며 "하이니켈 복합 양극활물질은 에너지 밀도 한계를 한 단계 더 뛰어넘는 혁신적 성과로, 엘앤에프의 세계 최고 기술력을 바탕으로 캐즘을 정면 돌파하겠다"고 수상 소감을 밝혔다.

엘앤에프는 다음달 5일부터 3일간 코엑스에서 열리는 ‘인터배터리 2025’에서 이번 수상작을 포함한 다양한 차세대 배터리 기술을 선보일 예정이다. 코엑스 3층 C홀에 마련되는 엘앤에프 전시 부스에서는 리튬인산철(LFP) 양극재, LS-엘앤에프배터리솔루션(LLBS) 전구체, 폐배터리 리사이클링, 차세대 이차전지 소재 기술 등을 공개한다. 수상작은 ‘인터배터리 어워즈 특별관’에도 별도로 전시된다.
