"AI 활용해 면역항암제 개발하자”…와이바이오로직스, 갤럭스 ‘맞손’

와이바이오로직스가 갤럭스와 인공지능(AI) 기술을 활용한 항암신약 개발 공동연구 계약을 체결했다.

향후 갤럭스가 AI 기반 신약 설계 플랫폼을 통해 신약 후보 물질을 도출하면, 와이바이오로직스는 이를 자체 항체 플랫폼과 결합해 차세대 면역항암제 개발을 추진하게 된다.

관련해 와이바이오로직스는 항체 디스커버리 플랫폼을 토대로 8건의 독자 및 공동 개발한 신약 후보 물질에 대한 기술이전 계약을 성사시켰다. 회사는 다수 신약 파이프라인을 개발, 여러 질환 신약 공동개발도 수행 중이다.

와이바이오로직스 관계자는 “갤럭스의 AI 기반 단백질 설계 기술과 당사의 항체 개발 역량을 결합해 경쟁력 있는 면역항암제를 개발하겠다”라며 “신약개발 과정의 혁신 개발이 이뤄지길 기대한다”라고 밝혔다.

갤럭스 측도 “AI 기술로 신약 개발의 시행착오를 줄이고 성공 확률을 높이겠다”라며 “이번 협력으로 혁신적인 면역항암제 개발에 참여해 기쁘다”라고 전했다.
