NMC 방문 복지부장관 의료진에 "5월 연휴 비상진료체계 점검”

조규홍 보건복지부 장관이 지난 2일 오후 국립중앙의료원(이하 NMC)을 방문해 비상진료체계 상황을 점검하고 현장 의료진들을 격려했다.

복지부는 5월 초 연휴 기간에도 응급의료체계를 차질 없이 운영할 수 있도록, ‘5월 연휴 대비 응급의료체계 대응 방안’을 수립한 바 있다. 1일 중앙재난안전대책본부 회의를 통해 각 부처 및 지방자치단체와 구체적인 대응 방향을 논의했다.

이번 방문은 공공의료의 중추 기관인 NMC의 현장 의료진을 격려하고, 이번 주말부터 시작되는 5월 연휴 기간을 대비해 비상진료체계가 차질 없이 운영될 수 있도록 권역외상센터와 지역응급의료센터 상황을 점검하기 위해 마련됐다.

NMC는 중앙응급의료센터·권역외상센터·중앙감염병병원 등을 운영하고 있다. 응급·외상·감염 등 국가 필수의료 분야에서 공공의료의 총괄기관으로써 중추적 역할을 수행 중이다.

조 장관은 “어려운 여건 속에서 의료진 모두에게 감사드린다”라며 “연휴에 국민이 안심하고 지낼 수 있도록 비상진료체계 유지에 최선의 노력을 다하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
