영풍, 1분기 영업손실 563억…적자 장기화 경영 책임론

영풍은 올해 1분기 연결기준 매출 5천719억원, 영업손실 563억원, 순이익 2천873억원을 기록했다고 지난 15일 밝혔다. 

전년 동기 대비 매출은 22.9% 감소하고 영업 적자는 30.3% 증가했다. 순이익은 전년 순손실 84억원을 거둔 데 반해 적자전환했다. 

1분기 매출은 최근 10년을 통틀어 가장 적은 규모로, 2022년 1분기 1조592억원과 비교하면 46% 줄었다. 영업손익도 2023년부터 3년 연속으로 적자를 시현하고 있다.

환경법규 위반으로 조업정지 처분을 받은 석포제련소의 가동률이 급락한 가운데 업황 악화 요인에도 제대로 대처하지 못한 게 아니냐는 평가가 나온다. 

앞서 물환경보전법 위반으로 석포제련소는 지난 2월26일부터 58일간 조업정지 행정처분을 받았다. 이에 따라 석포제련소 1분기 가동률은 전년 동기 64.7%보다 33.4%p 급락한 31.3%를 기록했다.

코리아써키트를 비롯한 전자·반도체 부문 계열사들도 영풍의 연결실적 악화에 영향을 끼쳤다. 코리아써키트는 인쇄회로기판(PCB) 올 1분기 연결기준 매출 3천546억원, 영업손실 17억원, 순손실 22억원을 기록했다.

반도체 패키징에 특화된 시그네틱스의 경우 분기 순손실이 111억원으로 전년 동기 대비 순손실이 2배나 확대됐다. 스마트폰 디스플레이용 연성인쇄회로기판(FPCB) 제조사 영풍전자도 분기손손실을 기록했다.

본업인 제련업에 있어 사업 포트폴리오를 다변화하지 못한 대목도 영풍의 경영 실패에 일조한 것으로 보인다. 공시에 따르면 제련 부문의 1분기 매출 구성은 아연괴 제품 및 상품 매출이 1천446억원으로 같은 기간 별도 매출 1천714억원의 84.4%를 차지한다. 특정 품목에 과도하게 편중된 사업 포트폴리오 때문에 결과적으로 제련수수료(TC) 하락과 아연 가격 약세 등 리스크를 완화하지 못해 실적이 더욱 저하됐다는 평가가 나온다.

업계에선 영풍의 실적 부진이 장기화될 것으로 내다보고 있다. 행정 처분에따른 조업정지가 지난달 종료됐지만 재가동 등 조업 가동률의 불확실성과 업황 악화 등 다양한 요인들도 매출과 영업이익에 있어 부정적인 상황이 이어지고 있다.

IB 업계에선 대주주의 경영환경 개선 노력 부족에 대한 지적도 일고 있다.
