자생한방병원 "추나요법, 턱관절 치료 효과 과학적 입증”

자생한방병원 척추관절연구소가 ‘턱관절 장애에 대한 추나요법의 임상적 유효성과 경제성을 분석한 연구 논문’을 국제학술지 ‘플로스원(PLOS One)’에 게재했다.

턱관절 장애는 턱관절과 저작근 통증‧턱 움직임 제한‧턱관절 소리 등을 호소하는 질환이다. 일상생활과 밀접해 만성 피로와 우울감 등으로 이어지기도 한다. 불균형한 자세나 생활 습관 등으로 인해 유병률이 점차 증가하는 추세다. 

건강보험심사평가원에 따르면, 지난 2020년 턱관절 장애로 의료기관을 찾은 환자는 46만여 명이었지만, 2023년에는 56만6천여 명이었다.

연구팀은 자생한방병원을 찾은 턱관절 장애 환자 80명을 추나요법군과 일반치료군으로 나눠 4주간 치료를 시행했다. 그 결과, 턱관절 전반의 기능을 평가하는 턱 기능 제한지수(JFLS-Global)는 추나요법군이 치료 전 3.3점에서 치료 후 2.13점으로 약 35% 개선됐다. 반면, 일반치료군은 3.0점에서 2.72점으로 약 9% 개선에 그쳤다.

감정 및 언어 표현 기능을 평가하는 JFLS-Verbal and Emotional 항목에서 추나요법군은 약 47%의 개선을 보였지만, 일반치료군은 1.4%였다. SF-12, PC, EQ-VAS, EQ-5D-5L 등 삶의 질 관련 지표에서도 추나요법군의 수치가 더 높게 나타났다. 치료 13주 차와 26주 차 추적 관찰 결과의 대다수 항목에서 추나요법군의 호전 정도가 더 컸다.

또 시각통증척도(VAS)와 통증숫자평가척도(NRS)에서 추나요법군이 일반치료군보다 개선 효과를 보였다. 생산성 손실 등을 포함한 사회적 관점에서 추나요법군은 일반치료군 대비 약 338달러(약 47만 원)의 비용 절감 효과를 나타냈다. 질보정수명(QALY)도 추나요법군이 더 높았다.
