SK바사, 안동 L HOUSE 증축 마쳐…21가 폐렴구균 백신 생산시설 확보

SK바이오사이언스는 백신 안동 L HOUSE의 증축 공사를 마쳤다.

회사는 사노피와 함께 개발 중인 21가 폐렴구균 백신 후보물질 ‘GBP410’의 생산시설 확보를 위해 공장을 증축해 왔다. 이에 따라 기존 L HOUSE 내 백신 생산동을 1층에서 3층 규모로 확장해 약 4천200제곱미터를 새로 확보했다. 증축 비용은 두 회사가 공동 투자했다.

SK바이오사이언스는 미국 의약품 제조 및 품질 관리 기준인 cGMP 인증 확보에 나설 예정이다. L HOUSE는 지난 2021년 유럽의약품청(EMA)의 EU-GMP를 획득한 바 있다.

GBP410은 우리나라를 비롯해 미국과 호주 등지에서 임상시험 제3상이 진행 중이다. 

대상은 생후 6주 이상부터 만 17세까지의 영·유아, 어린이와 청소년 7천700여 명이다. GBP410은  임상 2상에서 대조백신과 동등한 수준의 면역원성 및 안전성을 확인했다.

SK바이오사이언스와 사노피는 지난해 12월 GBP410의 개발 및 상용화 협력 범위를 확장해, 현재 상용화된 제품보다 잠재적으로 더 넓은 예방효과를 제공할 것으로 기대되는 차세대 폐렴구균 단백접합 백신 개발 계약을 체결했다.

안재용 사장은 “이번 증축으로 안동 L HOUSE가 글로벌 백신 허브로 자리매김하게 될 것”이라며 “폐렴구균 백신 개발과 공급으로 글로벌 공중보건에 기여하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
