의협, 전공의 집단행동 방조 간부 검찰 송치에 발끈

최근 경찰이 전공의 집단행동 방조 혐의로 대한의사협회 전·현직 간부 등 7명을 검찰에 송치하자 의협이 강력 반발했다.

의협은 2일 “의사들이 (의대정원 증원에 대한) 저항은 자발적인 것”이라며 “누구도 강요하지 않았으며 모두가 한뜻으로 국민건강을 지키겠다는 사명 아래 단결한 것”이라고 주장했다.

지난해 3월 3일 전국 의사 및 의사가족 4만여명이 정부의 의대정원 확대 등에 반대하는 집회를 개최했다.

이어 “전 정권은 의료계 전체를 적대시했고, 일부 정부 인사는 국민 건강과 의료 체계의 근간을 무너뜨린 의료계엄에 대한 미망을 버리지 않고 있다”라고 밝혔다.

또 “정당 대선 후보들은 현 정부의 독단적이고 강압적인 의료정책 추진을 비판하며, 책임자의 처벌 필요성을 언급하고, 의료전문가들의 의견 존중과 합리적인 개선을 약속했다”라며 “국민 공감대에도 의료계에 범죄 집단의 낙인을 찍으려는 전 정권의 하명 수사를 수행한 경찰은 공정성과 객관성을 상실한 수사 끝에 이 사건을 검찰로 송치했다”라고 비판했다.

그러면서 “차기 대통령 선거를 목전에 두고 사회의 무관심을 틈타 책임 있는 결정을 회피하려는 권력기관 보신주의의 전형”이라고 맹비난했다.

의협은 “의사도 국민이며, 국민의 정당한 항의를 탄압하는 무리한 사법절차를 중단하라”라며 “수사기관에 대한 개혁 요구가 봇물처럼 터져 나오고 있는 지금, 수사기관이 무리한 사법절차를 스스로 바로잡음으로써 자신에게 부여된 사회적 소명을 다하라”라고 강조했다.
