한국 초등생 그림 국제우주정거장에 소개된다

보령이 오는 14일 국립과천과학관에서 국제우주정거장(ISS)과 ‘Humans In Space(HIS) Youth 수상작 우주정거장 그림 발표를 생중계한다.

그날 우주에 체류 중인 Axiom Space Mission 4(AX-4) 우주인들은 우리 초등학생들이 직접 그린 우주 그림 20점을 우주 공간에서 소개할 예정이다. 이어 2025 HIS Youth 대회를 통해 선발된 초등학생과의 질의응답도 이뤄진다.

행사는 한국과학창의재단(KOSAC)과 보령이 공동 주최했다. 행사 당일에는 한국과학창의재단, 보령 관계자를 비롯해 국내 우주항공 분야 유관 기업 및 기관 관계자들이 참석할 예정.

우리 초등학생의 그림이 ISS에 소개되는 것은 이번이 처음이다. 지난 2008년 이소연 박사 이후 17년 만에 우리나라 창작물이 ISS에 도달한 사례. 창작물이 우주에서 소개되는 것도 국내에서는 처음이다.

보령 측은 이번 라이브 이벤트가 단순 중계 행사 이상의 의미가 있다고 밝혔다. 청소년에게 영감을 제공하는 공익 교육 사업으로 기획됐다는 것.

김정균 보령 대표는 “행사를 통해 더 많은 아이들이 창의력과 호기심을 바탕으로 미래 우주시대를 이끌어가는 인재로 성장하길 바란다”라고 밝혔다.
