유한재단 새 이사장에 원희목 서울대 특임교수 선임

유한재단은 최근 이사회를 열고 원희목 서울대학교 특임교수를 신임 이사장으로 선임했다고 16일 밝혔다.

원희목 신임 이사장은 오랜 기간 보건의료 및 공공정책 분야에서 활동해 온 전문가로, 대한약사회 회장, 제18대 국회의원(국회 보건복지가족위원회 위원), 한국사회보장정보원 원장, 한국제약바이오협회 회장을 역임하는 등 보건복지 정책 개선과 국내 제약바이오산업 발전에 기여해온 경력이 풍부하다. 또 현재 한국제약바이오협회 고문, 한국글로벌보건연맹 이사장, 희망나눔협의회 상임대표를 맡고 있는 등 다양한 공공 및 민간 영역에서 리더십을 발휘하고 있다.

유한재단은 “원희목 신임 이사장은 공공성과 혁신성을 고루 갖춘 리더로, 유한재단이 추구하는 창립 이념과 사회공헌 철학을 더욱 공고히 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 전했다.

원희목 이사장은 “유일한 박사의 정신을 계승한 유한재단의 이사장직을 맡게 되어 막중한 책임감을 느낀다”며 “교육, 장학, 복지 등 다양한 사회공헌 사업을 통해 더 나은 사회를 만들어가는 데 힘을 보태겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

유한재단은 유한양행 설립자인 故 유일한 박사가 전 재산을 출연해 세운 공익법인으로 미래 인재 양성을 위한 장학사업 및 교육사업 지원을 중심으로 기술 문화 연구 장려, 사회봉사자 시상사업, 사회복지사업, 재해구호사업 등 공익사업을 활발히 전개하고 있다.
