말라리아 주의보…모기물림 방지하세요

방역당국이 말라리아 주의보를 발령하면서 모기물림 방지 등 예방에 주의를 기울여야겠다.

질병관리청은 ‘2025년 말라리아 매개모기 조사감시사업’을 통해 24주차(6월8일~14일) 매개모기 발생이 증가함에 따라 말라리아 주의보를 발령했다. 말라리아 위험지역 내 69개 조사지점에서 24주차 매개모기 밀도 감시 결과, 일일 평균 모기지수가 0.5 이상인 감시 지점이 3곳을 넘었다. 해당 지역별 모기지수는 ▲철원군 0.9 ▲파주시 0.8 ▲화천군 0.6 등이다.

지난해의 경우, 23주차에 말라리아 매개모기 밀도가 발령 기준에 도달했다. 올해는 전년 대비 1주 늦게 발령 기준을 충족했다. 질병청은 지난달 전국 평균기온이 16.8℃로 평년 대비 0.5℃, 전년 대비 0.9℃ 낮아 매개모기 발생이 감소한 것으로 봤다.

질병청에 따르면, 올해 국내 말라리아 환자는 24주(1.1.~6.14.)까지 총 130명으로 전년 동 기간(143명) 대비 9.1% 감소했다. 지역별 환자 발생은 ▲경기 63.8% ▲인천 18.5% ▲서울 10.0% 순이었다. 역학조사 결과 주요 추정 감염지역은 ▲파주시 ▲연천군 ▲고양시 일산서구 ▲강화군 등이다.

말라리아를 예방하려면 모기가 활발하게 활동하는 4월~10월 야간에는 야외 활동을 자제해야 한다. 야간에 외출할 때는 밝은 긴 소매와 긴 바지를 착용하고, 얼굴 주변을 피해 모기 기피제를 3~4시간 간격으로 뿌려야 한다. 방충망의 정비 및 모기장 사용을 권고하고, 실내 살충제를 사용해야 한다. 

말라리아 위험지역에 거주하거나 여행, 군 복무 후 의심 증상이 48시간 주기로 반복하며 두통, 구토, 설사 등이 발생 시 가까운 의료기관을 방문하여 진료를 받아야 한다.

지영미 청장은 “장마 전후로 말라리아 매개모기가 증가할 것으로 예상된다”라며 “말라리아 위험지역에서는 매개모기 방제를 강화하고, 모기물림 예방 수칙을 지킬 것”이라고 밝혔다. 아울러 “말라리아 위험지역에서 야간 활동을 하는 방문자와 거주자는 발열 등 증상이 나타나면 가까운 보건소 및 의료기관에서 검사를 받아야 한다”라고 덧붙였다.
