[신간] 국경을 넘은 사람들

국경없는의사회의 한국인 구호활동가 11인의 현장 이야기를 담은 에세이집 ‘국경을 넘은 사람들’이 지난 20일 출간됐다.

전 세계 인도적 위기 현장에서 활동한 한국인 의사‧간호사‧약사‧보건 전문가 등 11인은 방글라데시 로힝야 난민 캠프, 수단 내전 지역, 팔레스타인 가자 지구, 시에라리온, 말라위 등에서의 경험을 책에 썼다.

책은 총 3부로 구성됐다. 각 장마다 실린 활동가들의 사진과 현장 기록을 수록했다. 저자들은 활동 과정을 통해서 자신이 얼마나 성장했는지 함께 고백하며 많은 이들의 참여를 권장하고 있다.

부록에서는 국경없는의사회에 대한 소개와 국경없는의사회의 활동에 직접 또는 후원으로 참여하는 방법을 포함했다.

엠마 캠벨 국경없는의사회 한국 사무총장은 “국경없는의사회 활동을 통해 얻는 교훈 중 하나는 가장 어두운 곳에서도 빛이 존재한다는 사실”이라며 “이러한 소중한 빛을 가슴 깊이 간직한 채 현장에서 돌아온 한국인 동료들의 이야기를 독자들과 함께 나누길 원한다”라고 밝혔다.
