정은경 보건복지부장관 후보자가 30일 국회 인사청문회 준비를 위해 서울 용산구에 위치한 후보자 사무실로 첫 출근을 했다.

정 후보자는 후보자 지명과 관련해 “의정 갈등과 초고령화, 양극화 심화와 같은 어려운 시기에 새 정부의 보건복지부 장관 후보자로 지명되게 되어 막중한 책임감과 사명감을 느낀다”라고 말했다.

이어 “국민의 건강과 행복을 지키기 위해 국민과 의료계의 목소리를 담은 의료 개혁과 모든 국민들의 기본적인 생활을 보장할 수 있는 사회안전망 강화에 최선을 다하겠다”라고 밝혔다.

한편, 배우자 주식 보유 이슈에 대해서는 “주식 보도 내용에 잘못된 내용이 많아 청문회 과정을 통해서 사실관계를 기반으로 국민께 충실하게 설명하겠다”고 전했다.
