저소득 국민연금 지역가입자 30만명 이상 보험료 지원 받아

국민연금공단의 ‘저소득 지역가입자 보험료 지원제도’의 지원을 받은 수혜 가입자 수가 30만 명을 돌파했다.

제도 시행 3년 만에 지원된 누적 보험료는 총 1천121억 원이다. 저소득 지역가입자 보험료 지원제도는 실직‧휴직‧사업 중단 등으로 소득이 없어 보험료 납부가 면제됐던 ‘납부예외자’ 중 납부를 다시 시작한 저소득 지역가입자에게 보험료의 절반을 12개월간 지원하는 제도다.

연금공단은 제도 시행 이후 대상자 개별 안내 강화, 사전 문자 알림 서비스 등 맞춤형 홍보를 추진해 왔다. 2022년 3만8천 명이었던 연간 지원 인원은 지난해 20만4천 명으로 5.4배 증가했다.

연령별 지원은 50대가 41.4%로 가장 많았다. 이어 ▲30대 25.1% ▲40대 21.4% ▲20대 이하 12.0% 순이었다. 전체 수혜자의 90.8%가 지원 종료 후에도 보험료 납부를 이어간 것으로 나타났다.

내년 1월부터는 보험료 납부를 재개한 가입자뿐만 아니라 일정 기준을 충족하는 저소득 지역가입자 전반으로 지원 대상이 확대될 예정이다.

김태현 이사장은 “보험료 지원제도는 취약계층의 연금 가입을 유도해 노후 소득 보장을 강화한다”라며 “앞으로도 사각지대 없는 연금제도 운용으로 국민이 노후를 준비할 수 있게 하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
