SK바이오사이언스, 안동 폐렴구균 백신 생산시설 준공식 열어

SK바이오사이언스가 지난 27일 경북 안동 백신 생산공장 ‘L HOUSE’에서 폐렴구균 백신 생산시설의 증축 준공식을 개최했다.

이번 증축으로 SK바이오사이언스는 기존 L HOUSE 내 백신 생산동을 확장, 약 4천200제곱미터(1천300평) 규모의 신규 공간을 확보했다. 이 시설은 사노피와 공동개발 중인 21가 폐렴구균 백신(PCV21) 후보물질 ‘GBP410’의 생산기지로 활용될 예정이다. 회사는 미국 식품의약국(FDA)의 의약품 제조·품질관리 기준(cGMP) 인증도 획득한다는 방침이다.

준공식에는 프랑스와 미국에서 사노피 주요 임원진들이 참석했다.

관련해 ‘GBP410’은 호주·미국·한국 등지에서 영·유아부터 청소년까지 7천700여 명을 대상으로 글로벌 3상 임상이 순항 중이다. GBP410은 영·유아 대상 임상 3상에 진입한 백신 후보물질 중 최초로 20가를 넘는 혈청형을 포함하고 있다.

두 회사는 글로벌 출시를 완수하기 위한 공조 체계를 더 강화해 나간다는 방침이다. 지난해 12월 확장 체결한 차세대 폐렴구균 백신 개발 프로젝트도 신속하게 진전시키기로 했다.

토마스 트리옹프 사노피 수석 부사장은 “우리는 폐렴구균 질환 극복을 위한 의미 있는 변화를 만들기 위해 함께 중요한 걸음을 내딛고 있다”라고 밝혔다.

안재용 SK바이오사이언스 사장도 “사노피와 ‘One Team, One Goal’의 모토 아래 글로벌 도약에 박차를 가하겠다”라고 전했다.
