한미, K-비만 신약 이름 대국민 공모 실시

한미약품이 내년 하반기 출시를 앞둔 GLP-1 비만 신약 ‘에페글레나타이드(efpeglenatide)’의 제품명을 정하기 위한 이름 공모전을 진행한다.

이번 공모는 자사의 의료 전문 포털 HMP(Health & Medical Platform)에 가입된 전국의 의사 고객을 대상으로 오는 16일까지 진행된다. 대한민국 의사라면 누구나 HMP 가입 후 공모전에 참여할 수 있다.

에페글레나타이드는 한미약품의 랩스커버리(LAPSCOVERYTM)가 적용된 지속형 글루카곤 유사 펩타이드-1(GLP-1) 수용체 작용제다. 제2형 당뇨병(T2DM) 환자를 대상으로 한 임상 3상에서 우수한 혈당 조절 및 체중 감량 효과가 입증됐다. 회사는 GLP-1 계열 치료제 중 가장 뛰어난 심혈관 질환 보호 효능을 갖출 것으로 기대했다.

박재현 대표는 “이번 공모전이 한국을 대표할 비만 치료제의 정체성을 공고히 하는 자리”라며 “팔팔, 텐텐 등 국민들에게 널리 알려진 브랜드 이름처럼, 이번에도 HMP에 가입한 많은 의사 선생님의 독창적인 아이디어가 함께하길 기대한다”라고 밝혔다.

최인영 연구개발센터장도 “에페글레나타이드는 체중 감량과 심혈관 및 신장 보호 효과까지 겸비한 비만 치료제”라며 “독자 기술로 개발한 GLP-1 비만 신약을 기대해달라”라고 밝혔다.
