국내 첫 로봇 폐 이식 수술 성공

서울대병원이 국내에서 처음으로 로봇 폐 이식 수술에 성공했다.

환자는 폐섬유증으로 인해 중증 호흡 곤란을 앓아온 66세 남성이다. 서울대병원 의료진은 환자의 상태를 종합적으로 판단한 끝에 지난달 19일 로봇 폐 이식 수술을 결정하고 시행했다.

의료진은 갈비뼈 사이를 절개해 로봇 팔로 손상된 폐를 제거한 뒤, 기증 폐를 정밀하게 이식하는 방식으로 약 8시간에 걸쳐 수술을 진행했다. 현재 환자는 자연 호흡이 가능할 정도로 회복 중이다.

수술에는 로봇 수술 시스템인 ‘다빈치’가 활용됐다. 로봇 폐이식은 서구형 체형에 맞춘 기술로, 좁은 흉곽 구조에서는 수술 부위 접근이 어렵고 로봇 팔 조작이 제한적이어서 까다로운 시도로 여겨져 왔다. 그럼에도 이번 수술 성공으로 한국인 체형에도 적용이 가능하다는 점이 확인됐다.

아울러 수술은 심장혈관흉부외과, 마취통증의학과, 수술간호과 등 여러 분야의 전문가들이 협력해 실시됐다.

집도의 박샘이나 심장혈관흉부외과 교수는 “최소 침습 로봇 수술로 회복 부담을 줄였다”라며 “체구가 작은 환자에게서도 정밀한 폐 이식이 가능하다는 것을 입증한 사례”라고 밝혔다.
