"AI 기반 신약개발‧인재 양성‧생태계 활성화하자”

한국제약바이오협회 AI신약융합연구원이 다음 달 25일까지 ‘AI 신약개발 경진대회 JUMP AI’를 온라인 개최한다.

대회는 보건복지부와 한국보건산업진흥원의 ‘인공지능(AI) 신약개발 교육 및 홍보 사업 일환으로 마련됐다. 참가자들은 암‧당뇨‧퇴행성 뇌 질환 등 치료제 개발용 타깃 물질인 ‘MAP3K5 IC50’ 데이터셋을 기반으로 Kinase IC50 활성 값을 예측하는 AI 모델을 개발하게 된다.

특히 대회 평가에 제공된 데이터셋은 유한양행이 신약 연구 현장에서 직접 생산‧검증한 실험 데이터를 기반으로 하고 있다.

대회는 AI 활용 신약개발에 관심이 있는 국내·외 연구자 누구나 참가할 수 있다. 대상인 복지부 장관상 상금은 500만 원이 수여된다. 또 최우수상(유한양행상) 400만 원, 우수상(협회장상·CAS상) 2점에는 각각 상금 300만 원이 수여된다. 시상은 오는 9월 25일 인공지능 신약개발 콘퍼런스에서 이뤄질 예정이다.

표준희 AI신약융합연구원 부원장은 “대회는 AI 기반 신약개발의 실질적 가능성을 확인할 기회”라며 “앞으로도 산업계, 학계, 스타트업 등과 생태계 확장에 기여하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
