오픈채팅방으로 스테로이드·성장호르몬 1억4천만원 불법 판매 덜미

오픈채팅방으로 무허가 의약품을 판매하던 업자가 규제당국에 덜미가 잡혔다.

식품의약품안전처에 해외에서 수입되거나 국내에서 불법 제조된 스테로이드 등 무허가 의약품 등을 판매한 전직 헬스트레이너 A씨를 약사법 위반 혐의로 적발, 검찰에 송치했다.

수사 결과, A씨는 과거 헬스트레이너로 일할 때 알게 된 해외직구 사이트 등 무허가 스테로이드 구매 경로 등을 이용, 이를 구매한 후 판매했다. A씨는 지난 2023년 11월부터 올해 4월까지 스테로이드제제와 성장호르몬제제를 판매할 목적으로 오픈채팅방을 개설해 운영했다.

그는 의약품 종류와 용도, 가격표를 안내하고 약 200명의 구매자로부터 주문을 받아 인도 직구 사이트에서 수입하거나 무허가 의약품 제조·판매업자 B씨로부터 구매한 1억1천만원 상당의 의약품을 택배로 판매해 왔다.

또 A씨는 구매자들이 스테로이드 복용 시 발생하는 부작용을 줄이기 위해 함께 복용하는 간 기능 개선제 등을 3천만 원 상당 함께 판매한 것으로 드러났다. 

A씨는 수사기관의 단속을 피하고자 주로 현금으로 의약품을 구매하였고, 의약품 택배 발송 시 보내는 사람과 주소 등을 허위로 기재했다. 식약처는 수사 과정에서 추가로 범죄사실이 확인된 국내 무허가 의약품  제조·판매업자 B씨 등에 대해 추가 수사를 이어가고 있다고 밝혔다.

압수된 스테로이드제제는 단백질의 생성을 촉진하는 합성 스테로이드(단백동화스테로이드)다. 투여 시 면역체계 파괴·성기능 장애·심장병·간암 유발 등 부작용을 초래할 수 있다. 때문에 의사 처방 없이는 사용이 제한된 전문의약품이다.

식약처 관계자는 “불법 스테로이드제제는 정상적인 의약품처럼 엄격한 제조 환경에서 생산되지 않은 제품”이라며 “자가 투여 시 세균 감염 등이 발생할 수 있는 등 안전성이 확인되지 않았으므로 절대로 사용하지 말고 즉시 폐기해야 한다”라고 밝혔다.
