여야, 정은경 복지장관 후보자 남편 주식 두고 격돌

정은경 보건복지부 장관 후보자 남편의 코로나19 팬데믹 당시 주식 투자 의혹을 두고 인사청문회는 시작부터 파행으로 흘렀다.

쟁점은 정 후보자의 남편이 보유한 주식에 대한 자료 제출과 주식 매수에 대한 이해충돌 의혹 등이다. 18일 오전 국회 보건복지위원회에서 시작된 정 후보자 인사청문회의 시작은 김미애 국민의힘 간사의 일갈로 시작됐다. 

김 간사는 “정 후보자가 질병관리청장 재직 당시 (배우자의) 코로나19 주식 수혜 의혹은 털고 가야 한다고 봤다”라며 “(정 후보자는) 12월 30일 자 하루치만 제출했다”라고 지적했다.

이어 “증인 신청 채택도 안하고, 자료 제출도 청문 시간 직전에 제출했다”라며 강력하게 유감을 표명했다.

이에 이수진 더불어민주당 간사는 “(국민의힘은 후보자의) 가족을 볼모로 여론 호도에만 몰두, 국정의 발목을 잡겠다는 것”이라며 “내란 정당이 아니랄까 봐 민생 발목 잡기만 매달리고 있다”라고 받아쳤다.

같은 당 서미화 의원도 “검증이란 명분으로 무작정 깎아내리면 공직자 잃을 수 있다”라며 “오늘 청문회는 검증할 건 검증하면서도 국민께서 후보자의 역량과 정책 비전에 대한 알권리도 보장되어야 한다”라고 조언했다.

이주영 개혁신당 의원은 “코로나19 시기 주식 등락이 심했고, (후보자 배우자의) 빈번한 (주식) 매수 및 매도가 있었다면 국민 생명과 자유를 볼모로 한 행동”이라며 “(후보자의) 성실한 제출과 의혹이 국민 보기에 잘 해결이 되길 바란다”라고 말했다.

이렇듯 여야 간 충돌이 이어지자, 박주민 위원장은 후보자 선서와 모두발언을 듣고, 자료 제출 요구 및 1시간 정회 후 자료 분석 후 인사청문 속개를 결정했다.

우여곡절 끝에 모두발언에 나선 정 후보자는 “제게 미흡한 점이 많을 것”이라면서도 장관 임명 시 ▲빈틈없이 촘촘한 사회안전망 구축 ▲돌봄에 대한 국가책임 강화 ▲국민 중심 보건의료체계 구축 ▲미래 보건복지 강국 도약 기반 마련 등을 약속했다.
