셀트리온, 美공장 인수 우선 협상대상자 선정…서정진 "미 관세 대응"

셀트리온이 최대 7천억원을 투입해 연내 미국 내 의약품 생산시설을 인수할 예정이다.

회사는 30일 미국 원료의약품 시설 보유한 기업 인수에 대한 독점 교섭 확약 체결, 즉 우선협상대상자 선정됐다고 공시했다.

인수 추진 이유에 대해 ▲미국향 수출 의약품 관세 리스크 해소 ▲미국 현지 생산 체계 구축을 통한 원가경쟁력 확보 등을 내세웠다. 회사는 6개월 전부터 미국 원료의약품 cGMP 생산시설을 보유한 기업 인수 검토를 진행해 왔고, 29일 현지 글로벌 기업과 현지 생산 시설을 보유한 기업 인수에 대한 독점 교섭 확약 체결을 통해 우선협상대상자로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

증설자금은 3천억 원~7천억 원이다. 이를 결정하는 것은 미국이 향후 적용할 관세 정책이다. 서정진 회장은 “관세 범위에 따라 소폭 증설 시 3천억, 대규모 증설 시 7천억 원으로 예상한다”라며 “(7천억 원 규모로 증설 시) 송도 2공장의 1.5배 정도까지 규모가 커진다”라고 설명했다. 구체적인 인수 금액은 공개되지 않았다. 

인수 일정에 대해서는 “다음 달부터 오는 10월 첫째 주까지 본계약을 마무리할 것”이라며 “연내 해당 시설을 100% 인수해서 경영하게 될 것”이라고 밝혔다.

현지 시설 인수 결정과 관련해 서 회장은 “경제 및 기간 측면에서 유리해 인수를 추진키로 했다”라며 “(시설 인수 시) 미국 관세에 상관없이 ‘메이드 인 USA’로 제품을 판매할 준비가 마무리된 것”이라고 자신했다.

이어 “관세 불확실성을 털어내고 미래 제품 포함해 우리 제품의 생산 및 판매할 풀라인업을 갖춘 것”이라며 “필요시 보완 투자 계획도 있다”라고 밝혔다.

한편, 셀트리온이 미국 생산시설 인수 소식을 발표한 가운데, 셀트리온 주가는 오전 10시30분 기준 전날보다 500원 하락한 17만7천원에 거래 중이다.
