광동, 삼다수 유통 재계약 가능할까…우선협상자 선정 D-1

제주개발공사의 제주삼다수 위탁판매사 우선협상자 선정까지 하루 앞둔 가운데 광동제약과 동화약품 등 제약사 간 경쟁이 눈에 띈다.

삼다수는 국내 생수 시장 점유율 40%로 1위다. 일단 유통권을 확보하게 되면 2026년~2029년 4년간 제주삼다수의 유통에 따른 이익을 얻게 된다.

제주삼다수의 대형마트 판권은 그동안 제주개발공사가 직접 맡아왔다. 하지만 공사가 내년부터는 위탁판매기업에 이를 넘기기로 하면서 최대 4천억 원에 달할 것으로 보이는 삼다수 유통 규모 확보에 여러 기업이 나선 상황이다.

특히 광동제약과 동화약품 등 제약사 간 경쟁이 눈에 띈다. 

광동이 만약 삼다수 유통권 사수에 실패하면 매출 타격이 불가피하다. 회사는 지난해 삼다수 위탁판매로 3천196억 원의 매출을 벌어들였다.  

이는 반대로 동화제약 입장에서 새로운 기회가 될 수 있다는 말이다. 제주삼다수 유통권 확보는 이를 통한 막대한 매출 확보와 더불어 주력 사업 부문인 의약품 사업 외에도 신규 사업 확장의 전환점을 맞을 수 있다. 하지만 동화에게는 생수 유통 사업이 처음이다.

업계 관계자는 “동화가 사업 다각화 일환으로 유통 관련 부서를 통해 다양한 신제품을 출시 및 유통해 온 이력이 있는 만큼 생수 사업 추진의 어려움이나 불리함이 있다고 보긴 어렵다”라고 밝혔다.

한편, 전통적인 식품 유통기업들도 제주삼다수 유통권 확보에 나선 상태다. 지난 24일 마감된 제주삼다수 위탁판매사 선정 입찰에는 앞서 거론한 광동과 동화를 비롯해 풀무원식품, 웅진식품 등 십여 개 사가 입찰에 참여한 것으로 알려졌다. 특히 입찰에 농심이 참여 여부에도 관심이 높다. 농심은 생수 시장 3위 브랜드인 백산수를 판매하고 있다.
